Updated Brisbane Boudoir Studio

After a few years with a futon in my studio instead of a bed, it was time for the bed to make a return to my Brisbane boudoir studio. I’ve always loved this bedhead, it is so classy and makes a gorgeous backdrop for boudoir photographs. To say that I am excited for its return would be an understatement. I love having a bed back in the studio!

The chandelier, velvet couch, side table and occasional chair are still part of the studio. I’ve always wanted to add plants to the studio, so I’ll be adding them and other elements gradually to keep things interesting.

If you live in Brisbane, the Gold Coast or the Sunshine Coast and you’re looking for classy boudoir photographs, then look no further. I’d love to shoot with you 🙂

Boudoir images – keep them private or share, the choice is yours

I am so grateful when clients allow me to share their photos online, but respect when clients want to keep them private for their use only.  Clients can choose to share all their photos, share only the anonymous ones, or share none of them.  Here are some recent anonymous boudoir photos. boudoir images anonymous boudoir anonymous boudoir photography Brisbane anonymous boudoir photography Brisbane anonymous boudoir photography Brisbane boudoir images anonymous boudoir Brisbane anonymous boudoir Brisbane anonymous boudoir Brisbane To view more of my work visit: Website: http://www.nikkibrown.com.au Facebook: www.facebook.com/nikkibrownphotography Instagram: www.instagram.com/nikkibrownphotography

Unsure what to wear to your Brisbane boudoir shoot?

I will be the first to admit I love a good lingerie set with stockings and suspenders! But I don’t recommend you bring several of these sets to your shoot.  Bring something a bit unique too.

These boudoir outfit tips used to be located on my website and I’ve had to remove them to make space for new galleries, so I decided to put them together in a blog post.   I hope they provide ideas that you may not have considered:what to wear to boudoir shoot what to wear to boudoir shoot what to wear to boudoir shoot Brisbane boudoir outfit tips Brisbane boudoir outfit tips Brisbane boudoir outfit tips Brisbane boudoir outfit tips Brisbane boudoir outfit tips  Brisbane boudoir outfit tips Brisbane boudoir outfit tips Brisbane boudoir outfit tips Brisbane boudoir outfit tips

Celebrating her body before a fitness competition – Brisbane boudoir photographer

This gorgeous lady had her shoot close to her fitness competition, as a celebration of her hard work and to capture her body at this moment in time.  Instead of fitness photos, she was really wanting beautiful boudoir photos.  She travelled from the Gold Coast to my Brisbane boudoir photographer studio for her shoot.

She has such an amazing physique so I captured some implied topless photos to show it off further.  Hair and makeup by Mequa of Mequa’s Artistry.  Her lovely makeup really accentuated the client’s beautiful eyes and striking purple hair.

I hope you enjoy her beautiful images.

3 inexpensive outfit choices for your Brisbane boudoir shoot – why you don’t have to spend a fortune

It is very exciting to book a Brisbane boudoir shoot and now be able to go shopping for outfits!  However if you are limited by budget, you don’t have to spend a fortune on new outfits.

My clients can bring 4 outfit choices to their boudoir photoshoot.  Here are 3 outfit choices I suggest you bring.  In fact, even if you are not on a budget, still consider these 3 outfits as they will add variety to your shoot.  Many clients make the mistake of bringing all suspenders and stockings to their shoot. I love stockings and suspenders as much as the next person, but it is best to limit them to one outfit per shoot.  Sometimes a more natural look can be even sexier.

Boudoir Shoot outfit choice 1 – White Sheets

I am a sucker for white sheets.  Wrap yourself in some white sheets and look effortlessly gorgeous, while hiding any bits you aren’t 100% happy with.

No need to bring any sheets with you, I have that sorted. Talk about an inexpensive outfit choice 🙂

Boudoir Shoot outfit choice 2: Implied topless

Feeling daring? Go implied topless for one of your outfit choices.  This means that your hands/arms will be covering, so there is no nudity to make this x-rated.  Just bring some undies.

Also consider wearing stay-up stockings, boots or long socks – they go great with this look.

Boudoir Shoot outfit choice 3: Shirt and undies

I already spoke in my last post about how much I adore shirts and undies for your boudoir shoot.

If you missed my previous blog post with shirt ideas, you can read it here.  It also gives examples of different styles of shirts that work well for a boudoir shoot.

So there you go – 3 outfit choices that you don’t need to spend any money on and will look great!

Why you should bring a shirt to your Brisbane boudoir photo shoot

I suggest to all my clients to bring a shirt to their boudoir photo shoot, to wear with undies.  Here are some reasons why ….

Shirts say ‘effortlessly sexy’.

Brisbane boudoir photo shoot

Shirts say ‘girl-next-door’ and ‘relaxed and natural’.

When they are teamed with undies they also say ‘I’m half undressed’ … and let’s face it, what guy doesn’t like that?

Brisbane boudoir photo shoot

Who would have thought shirts could say all of that? But they do! And that is why I love them for boudoir shoots 🙂

BTW the photos in this blog post above are all white shirts, but that is merely coincidence so don’t let that limit you.  Any colour shirt works great, as you will see from other examples below.

Here are some styles of shirts that work great for your boudoir shoot:

  • white singlets
  • oversized singlets
  • shirts with cute sayings
  • low cut tops
  • crop tops
  • sheer shirts
  • long white shirt
  • jackets or shirts that can be left open (eg has zippers or buttons)
  • jumpers or large shirts that fall off your shoulder

And here are some photo examples to help you visualise:

I hope this helped convince you that a shirt, matched with some cute undies, is a great outfit to bring as one of your 4 selections.

Tips on choosing your boudoir photographer

You are looking for a boudoir photographer and there are so many to choose from – how to choose? Here are some tips to help you.

Look for a specialist

Go to a photographer’s website and you will often be amazed by all the different styles of photography they can do – not only do they shoot weddings, families and newborns but they also do boudoir photos.  Good on them – but perhaps they aren’t the right choice for your boudoir photo shoot.   A boudoir specialist does this style of photography day in and day out.  They will know how to guide you in choosing the correct outfits and be able to confidently direct you throughout the shoot.  They know the most flattering camera angles and poses to ensure you look your best.  Ideally choose a photographer who specialises in boudoir photography.

Look for a consistent style

I can’t stress the importance of choosing a photographer with a consistent style.  There should be a recognisable style running through the photographer’s work that you choose.  You should be able to see their work anywhere on the internet and be able to tell it is their work without even seeing their name on the copyright.  Some photographers’ work looks so completely different to their other photos, it looks like it could be taken by a different photographer.  This means that you have no guarantee what your images will look like.  By choosing a photographer with a consistent style you can expect that you will receive images of a similar quality to those you have seen online.

 Retouching

The shoot is only one half of the photographer’s job, the second half is the retouching – so ensure you are happy with the photographer’s retouching style.  I have seen some amazing work by photographers, but their retouching skills let them down.  Some photographers offer too little retouching – and personally I believe cellulite, stretch marks, goosebumps etc do not belong in your boudoir photos.  Other photographers offer too much, and their photos look like you are a Barbie who has no resemblance to reality.  Ideally you will find someone who strikes a balance between the two.  You want to look natural, but also look your best.

Check on their availability and turn-around times, and make sure they can meet your deadlines

Some photographers book shoots far in advance, and some photographers have very long turn-around times on providing your images.  I once had my family photos taken and didn’t see the gallery of proofs until 4 weeks after the shoot and it took another 4 weeks to receive my retouched images.  So make sure to find out these details, especially if you are doing the shoot for a special occasion (such as birthday, wedding etc) or if you need the photos urgently for work purposes.  It is really important that your photographer can cater for you and book your shoot in and provide your products within the time required.Boudoir Photographer

I hope these tips helped you in your search to choose your boudoir photographer.

Anonymous boudoir photography

Due to the style of photography I offer, many of my clients choose to keep their images private. However, kindly they often allow me to use their anonymous photos for my promotional use.

So that is the reason that I am going to be showing some anonymous photos, that is mainly butt shots, in this post!

September studio shoot – Boudoir Photographer Brisbane

This gorgeous lady came into my studio in September for her boudoir shoot.  She was referred to my studio from a previous client, which I love! Most of my clients are referrals, or previous clients doing another shoot, and I am always so grateful that they choose to do their photo shoot with me.

Hair and makeup was done by Helena of Elegant Creations Hair and Makeup Artistry. Her red hair looks so striking in the photos and I love the pink and purple colours mixed in.

She had put a lot of thought into her outfit choices and each of them really suited her personality and body.  The white dressing gown/robe was my absolute favourite.  The lace was just so pretty that I think I now have a robe obsession.

I am also impressed that she brought her silver glittery heels to go with her robe.  Often clients just bring a pair of black heels, but it is really important when bringing a white outfit to remember to also bring your white/nude/silver heels to go with it.

My client was such a delight to shoot and she was always happy and laughing! Here are some photos from her photo shoot.
