3 inexpensive outfit choices for your Brisbane boudoir shoot – why you don’t have to spend a fortune

It is very exciting to book a Brisbane boudoir shoot and now be able to go shopping for outfits!  However if you are limited by budget, you don’t have to spend a fortune on new outfits.

My clients can bring 4 outfit choices to their boudoir photoshoot.  Here are 3 outfit choices I suggest you bring.  In fact, even if you are not on a budget, still consider these 3 outfits as they will add variety to your shoot.  Many clients make the mistake of bringing all suspenders and stockings to their shoot. I love stockings and suspenders as much as the next person, but it is best to limit them to one outfit per shoot.  Sometimes a more natural look can be even sexier.

Boudoir Shoot outfit choice 1 – White Sheets

I am a sucker for white sheets.  Wrap yourself in some white sheets and look effortlessly gorgeous, while hiding any bits you aren’t 100% happy with.

No need to bring any sheets with you, I have that sorted. Talk about an inexpensive outfit choice 🙂

Boudoir Shoot outfit choice 2: Implied topless

Feeling daring? Go implied topless for one of your outfit choices.  This means that your hands/arms will be covering, so there is no nudity to make this x-rated.  Just bring some undies.

Also consider wearing stay-up stockings, boots or long socks – they go great with this look.

Boudoir Shoot outfit choice 3: Shirt and undies

I already spoke in my last post about how much I adore shirts and undies for your boudoir shoot.

If you missed my previous blog post with shirt ideas, you can read it here.  It also gives examples of different styles of shirts that work well for a boudoir shoot.

So there you go – 3 outfit choices that you don’t need to spend any money on and will look great!

Why you should bring a shirt to your Brisbane boudoir photo shoot

I suggest to all my clients to bring a shirt to their boudoir photo shoot, to wear with undies.  Here are some reasons why ….

Shirts say ‘effortlessly sexy’.

Brisbane boudoir photo shoot

Shirts say ‘girl-next-door’ and ‘relaxed and natural’.

Brisbane boudoir photo shoot

When they are teamed with undies they also say ‘I’m half undressed’ … and let’s face it, what guy doesn’t like that?

Who would have thought shirts could say all of that? But they do! And that is why I love them for boudoir shoots 🙂

BTW the photos in this blog post above are all white shirts, but that is merely coincidence so don’t let that limit you.  Any colour shirt works great, as you will see from other examples below.

Here are some styles of shirts that work great for your boudoir shoot:

  • white singlets
  • oversized singlets
  • shirts with cute sayings
  • low cut tops
  • crop tops
  • sheer shirts
  • long white shirt
  • jackets or shirts that can be left open (eg has zippers or buttons)
  • jumpers or large shirts that fall off your shoulder

And here are some photo examples to help you visualise:

I hope this helped convince you that a shirt, matched with some cute undies, is a great outfit to bring as one of your 4 selections.

Brisbane bridal boudoir photography

Brisbane bridal boudoir photography

Bridal boudoir photography is one of my favourite styles to shoot. Bride-to-be’s have been taking the utmost care of themselves for months leading up to their wedding, so they are feeling and looking great!

White lingerie is a must for bridal boudoir. Also feel free to bring your own veil and garter to incorporate into your shoot if you have them handy. However I have purchased a few bridal props specifically for my bridal boudoir shoots – including a veil, garter and ‘bride’ shirt – which you are welcome to use.

Most Brides choose to buy an Album to give to their Groom on the wedding day. It makes such a unique gift that is guaranteed to put a smile on his face! Try to book your shoot in a couple of months before your wedding date so that you have ample time for the delivery of your chosen album.

Here are some recent bridal boudoir photos, taken in my Brisbane studio. I am sooo in love with my chandelier and the classy and elegant touch it gives to my bridal images.

Outfit ideas for Brisbane boudoir shoot

I’m on a mission to ensure everyone brings flattering lingerie choices to their Brisbane boudoir shoot.  Here are a few more of my suggestions for you.

Corset/bustier

A corset/bustier is one of my favourite outfit choices.  It is a girl’s best friend!

If you are concerned about your belly area make sure to skip those that leave a gap between the corset and your undies.  You want one that goes all the way to your undies.  Also if you are concerned about your belly, skip sheer corsets.

Don’t forget to bring your jewellery to add that bit extra to your photos! Earrings, necklaces and bracelets.  Better yet match it to your outfits.

White Sheets

Lots of clients buy a heap of new expensive outfits for their lingerie shoot.  But if you are wanting to save some money, while still achieving gorgeous photos, skip the expensive lingerie stores and instead use some white sheets for one of your outfit choices.  It is super sexy, and one of my favourite styles to photograph.

A word about undies

There are so many styles of undies to choose from.  G-String, Brazilian, bikini cut, boy leg, high waisted just to name some.  So don’t limit yourself to just one style at your shoot.

What to Wear – Boudoir photo shoot Brisbane

Here are some more ideas on outfits to bring to your boudoir photo shoot Brisbane.

boudoir photo shoot Brisbane

Bodysuit

This is such a simple outfit that ladies may not even think of when planning their boudoir outfits, but it is a great choice and has an ‘effortlessly sexy’ look about it.

Mismatch bras and undies

Again, another thing that ladies may not have considered themselves, but if you like to mix things up and be a bit different then this is a great way to be sexy and unique at the same time.

Net bodystocking

This outfit is not for the faint at heart. You have to be quite daring to go for an outfit like this, but if your aim is to be provocative then this is a great outfit choice. It is also a good choice if you are using your photos for promotional purposes and want to wear something different, as there are many styles available – net dresses, bodysuits or bodystockings. These aren’t usually found at your shopping centre lingerie stores. Instead you will want to search online sites such as www.yandy.com, www.fantasylingerie.com.au or visit your local sex shop.

Dress up outfits

Another great idea if you are wanting a unique outfit for your shoot. There are so many styles to choose from. You will find dress up outfits at lingerie stores like Bras n things, online lingerie shops and sex shops.

What to Wear to your Brisbane boudoir shoot

As I have been a boudoir photographer for many years I know a lot of tips on outfits to bring to your Brisbane boudoir shoot.  I upload these tips regularly to my Instagram and Facebook pages.

Today I want to talk about stockings, as if clients aren’t informed they may bring the wrong types.  Often they may just grab a packet at the shop, without looking at the type or size.

My first recommendation is to bring hold-up stockings to wear with your suspenders.  The reason for this is that the stay-up stockings have a rubbery part underneath to help the stocking stick to your leg by itself, however this rubber also makes it very difficult to clip on the suspenders.  The rubbery part on stay-up stockings can also dig into the skin and this can be unflattering for thighs. So choose hold-up stockings to wear with your suspenders.

Often clients bring stockings that are too short, in which case it is hard for the suspender to reach the stocking.  That is why it is important that you choose the correct size.  If you are tall (over 170 cm) make sure to buy Tall rather than Average.

However something that I had not been aware of until recently is that stocking size is also dictated by weight, so if you are up to 60 kg then it is recommended that you purchase Avge, and if you are up to 80 kg then it is recommended you purchase Tall.

There are sometimes even Extra Tall or Plus Size stockings.  Please check the sizing charts if purchasing online, of ask a staff member if in doubt when purchasing in-store.

Lingerie ideas for boudoir photo shoot – What to Wear Wednesday

So your boudoir photo shoot is booked in … now you need some lingerie ideas for your boudoir photo shoot.

It is all well and good for me to show you cute outfits my clients have worn for their shoot, but I think it is even more helpful if I can also show you where to buy an item, and how much it costs.  So I am going to take the guesswork out of it for you and provide you with some ideas for lingerie outfits.

My first outfit idea is …. thigh high socks!  Team them with a tshirt and undies and they become very sexy!

These thigh high socks are from Yandy, which is a US site, and they are $8.95 each.  I have also seen them at Big W, Target and Kmart on occasion, so you could also give them a try.

My next idea is also from yandy.com and is stockings with writing on the back of them. They have both ‘This way to heaven’ and ‘Love me, Kiss me’.  I have looked far and wide for these stockings but yandy.com is the only place I have seen them so far.

I hope this gives you some different outfit ideas.  I will be sharing more in the coming weeks.

Swimsuit shoot clothing choices

I always try to educate my clients on clothing choices to bring to their shoot.  I find that otherwise girls will just bring bikinis to a beach shoot, although there are many different choices available to make your shoot look more interesting.  Here are a couple of ideas to spice up your swimsuit shoot, courtesy of Seafolly and model Gigi Hadid.

I love these rash vests currently on sale by Seafolly.  They can be zipped down to give a super sexy look.  And these Daisy Duke shirts are also great over a bikini, giving a natural girl next door look.
