Brisbane maternity boudoir shoot

This is the beautiful Jen, who is having her second child in December.  I really enjoy maternity photo shoots, it is such a special time and definitely needs to be documented, after all it usually only happens once or twice in your life!  Personally I felt at my most beautiful during my pregnancies and I’m so glad that I got in front of the camera.  I’m sure you’ll agree that Jen is glowing 🙂

Jen chose to shoot in bras & undies and implied topless, but don’t feel that you have to if that is not you.  Your clothing choices for your maternity shoot are completely up to you and what you feel comfortable with.

Whether you are a previous client who has done a bridal boudoir shoot with me and now expecting a little one, or we haven’t met yet  … let’s make a time to create some gorgeous pregnancy memories!

Nikki

Brisbane Boudoir Studio

I have had my French Provincial bedhead for a few years now, and gorgeous as it is, I am ready for a change.  I will be doing something quite dramatic before the end of 2019, and replacing the studio bed with a gorgeous living room.  I am still in the seeking stage, and on the search for a classic and very elegant lounge suite to go with my chandelier.

I am drawn towards a velvet chesterfield sofa and matching chaise lounge or occasional chairs.  You would think that finding a chesterfield and matching chairs in the colour I want would be relatively easy, however it is proving quite difficult! Most of the chesterfields come in royal blues, bright greens and strong purples.  Whereas I am wanting a softer colour such as champagne, dusty pink or silver.  Light enough colour to be romantic and feminine, but dark enough to hide fake tan marks!  Mind you, I am also partial to a Hamptons style look as well.  If you happen to see some furniture that you think would suit me, please let me know!!!

I think the luxurious living room will be wonderful for creating classy boudoir photos.  And never fear, I will always have a bed setting as well, so that you can get the typical bed boudoir shots.

I have many previous clients who choose to come back time and time again to get their photos updated, and I am looking forward to having a new studio environment to create their gorgeous photos in soon!  In the meantime, if you love my current studio and want to shoot in it before the French Provincial bedhead disappears, get in touch.

Brisbane boudoir photos in white sheets

When this gorgeous lady emailed me about doing some boudoir photos for her husband she mentioned that she might just want to focus on sexy shots in white sheets, wearing red lipstick and nothing else ….  I had always wanted to do that exact style, so I was in heaven!

This lovely client is a talented hairdresser with her own home salon, so she did her own hair and makeup for the shoot.  I always give the option for clients to do their own hair and makeup if they would like to save the money, rather than having it included with the shoot fee.

The famous Marilyn Monroe white sheet shots were my inspiration for the shoot.  This beautiful client has become my muse – she is so fun to photograph and such a natural in front of the camera. I think white sheet shots are so timeless, and the touch of red is very hot.  I adore them! What do you think?

Luxe USB of images from your boudoir shoot

So I admit it – I’ve been living in the last century.  I was still providing CDs of my digital images until this past month.  Even though yes I know most laptops don’t even come with a CD slot these days!  So I knew it was time to upgrade to USB, but being someone who struggles with decisions I kept putting it off, until I came across this gorgeous gold key USB.  As soon as I saw it I knew it was the perfect fit for my boudoir clients.

These luxe USBs have been such a hit with my clients that I know I made the right decision. I love their reaction when they first see it, they ooh and aah … they want to pick it up, and they literally can’t stop staring at it.

I’m sure any partner would love to receive this gold key to unlock sexy photos of their loved one 🙂  Don’t you agree?

1 year wedding anniversary gift – Brisbane boudoir photo shoot

Within a week of each other I had two clients who were both doing their boudoir shoot as a gift for their 1 year wedding anniversary, and this was the second client.  She chose a beautiful 30 page album for her husband, which comes in a classic box and also includes a CD of all purchased photos retouched and high resolution.

Albums by Gold Coast boudoir photographer

I am fortunate that many of my clients are from the Gold Coast.  This lovely lady was doing her boudoir shoot as a first year wedding anniversary present for her husband.  The 1st year anniversary present is ‘paper’ which makes an album full of prints the perfect gift idea.  If, for whatever reason, you weren’t able to do your shoot as a wedding present, this is another fantastic time to have your boudoir shoot.

Albums really do look amazing and they always come with a CD of the high resolution digital images.  Here are some pages from my client’s album.

Dark and moody photos – Brisbane boudoir photographers

Having been in my Brisbane boudoir studio for a couple of years now, I enjoy finding different ways to take photos in my studio space. My studio tends to have quite light furnishings which lends itself to light and bright images, but I also like to mix it up and love playing with light and shadow. I had so much creating these dark and moody photos of some recent clients.

For variety, I will be gradually adding different props and furnishings to my studio.  My aim is always to create something unique for each client, while retaining an obvious style to my boudoir photography.

Thanks to these clients for allowing me to share some of their anonymous photos.

Celebrating her body before a fitness competition – Brisbane boudoir photographer

This gorgeous lady had her shoot close to her fitness competition, as a celebration of her hard work and to capture her body at this moment in time.  Instead of fitness photos, she was really wanting beautiful boudoir photos.  She travelled from the Gold Coast to my Brisbane boudoir photographer studio for her shoot.

She has such an amazing physique so I captured some implied topless photos to show it off further.  Hair and makeup by Mequa of Mequa’s Artistry.  Her lovely makeup really accentuated the client’s beautiful eyes and striking purple hair.

I hope you enjoy her beautiful images.

Why everyone should purchase a boudoir photo album

I currently offer both digital image only packages and album packages, however I strongly believe every boudoir client should leave my studio with an album. So I have come up with 6 important reasons why you should purchase an album with prints, rather than solely purchasing the digital images.

1.  You have gone to all this effort – often purchased new lingerie, had a spray tan, and paid for your hair and makeup to be professionally done. Not to mention, you mustered the courage to do your boudoir shoot!  This is a once in a lifetime experience.  Which is why it is important to have a momento to look back on and treasure.

2. It saves you the hassle of doing it yourself. You may intend to print your images, but life just gets in the way.  We all have busy lives and it can be placed on the end of a long to do list.

3. For the best quality prints, with natural skin tone and correct exposure, you should always have your images printed through your photographer and their professional lab.  Please know that not all labs are equal!  Your local Kmart, Big W etc are vastly different in quality to a professional lab.

The importance of printing through a professional lab further hit home to me recently when I was given some prints from a family member’s wedding. Although the bride and groom had dark skin, their images were so blown out that they both looked as white as ghosts. Later they showed me their wedding album containing perfect prints. I couldn’t believe the difference in quality, so I questioned them – they confirmed that the album prints were printed by their photographer, and the prints I had been given were printed off their CD at their local lab.

4. Having your photos sent to a professional lab for printing also ensures the privacy of your images.  Boudoir images are very personal, therefore privacy is usually at the top of mind for my clients.  A professional lab deals with this style of images everyday and understand the need to respect the security and privacy of your boudoir images.

5. Technology is both our friend and foe. Technology changes so quickly. CDs and USBs won’t be around forever. Does anyone else remember floppy discs? It would be extremely difficult to access files on one of those now. Many new laptops no longer even include CD drives. Think of all the types of technology we currently use – how many will still be around in 50 years? Whereas your prints will be.  Not to mention, saved digital files can become corrupt over time and hard drives can crash.

6. An album is a fantastic way to display your photos while keeping your prints protected. You may choose to keep your album in a private spot, or alternatively you might choose to display them on a stand in a bedroom. I always include the high resolution digital images with my album packages too, so it really is the best option!

I hope this has helped you have some appreciation for the importance of purchasing an album of your boudoir shoot.
