Celebrating her body before a fitness competition – Brisbane boudoir photographer

This gorgeous lady had her shoot close to her fitness competition, as a celebration of her hard work and to capture her body at this moment in time.  Instead of fitness photos, she was really wanting beautiful boudoir photos.  She travelled from the Gold Coast to my Brisbane boudoir photographer studio for her shoot.

She has such an amazing physique so I captured some implied topless photos to show it off further.  Hair and makeup by Mequa of Mequa’s Artistry.  Her lovely makeup really accentuated the client’s beautiful eyes and striking purple hair.

I hope you enjoy her beautiful images.

Townsville Boudoir photography

I love shooting Townsville boudoir photography in this hotel room – the natural light is so glorious.  And as much as I love shooting in my Brisbane studio, it is always fun to explore a different location.

This beautiful lady was such a natural in front of the camera. She moved so gracefully, although she had never done a photo shoot before.  She had confessed to wanting to do a photo shoot for a while but every time she organised one with a photographer she would cancel at the last minute.  I can totally understand that.

Doubts always sneak up at the last minute.  When you book your shoot, a month or two away, it seems like a great idea – you know it will be something you will always treasure, and that your partner will definitely love it. But then it is a week away from your shoot and you are struck by how terrifying it is.  You try on all your outfits and decide you look horrible and doubt why you were even considering doing this.  You start beating yourself up and hating on yourself.

But try to go ahead with the shoot, despite those feelings.  Know that you will be nervous and that self-hate will probably try to rear its ugly head, but try not to listen to it.  Know that the nervousness will only last for the first few minutes of your shoot until you see what a total klutz I am and also that I am completely unintimidating. You know that feeling when you do something, even though you are really scared? And once you do it you think ‘why the hell was I so afraid?’. And you feel totally empowered? That is what you will get. Cause you felt the fear and did it anyway.

So what I am trying to say is … I am really grateful this beautiful client pushed past those thoughts and chose to go ahead with this shoot with me, it was an honour to photograph her.

As I am based in Brisbane, I am next photographing in Townsville in 2018.

Special thanks to Townsville hair and makeup artist Chloe Wheeler.

Recent Photo Shoots – Boudoir Photography Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Townsville

Over the last few weeks I have had many clients travel from both the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast to shoot in my Brisbane studio.  I love living in Brissie and having two wonderful places so close by.  And I’m appreciative of my clients taking the time to travel to me.

I am flying to Townsville tomorrow for a busy weekend of shooting.  If you have missed out on a spot, I will be back in Townsville photographing on 22 and 23 July, so get in touch if you would like to reserve a spot for my next trip.

April in my Brisbane studio is also a busy month, unless something suddenly becomes available, I am now booked out for shoots until May.

Here are a few photos from some recent photo shoots.  I loved photographing these three women, all so beautiful and unique!

3 inexpensive outfit choices for your Brisbane boudoir shoot – why you don’t have to spend a fortune

It is very exciting to book a Brisbane boudoir shoot and now be able to go shopping for outfits!  However if you are limited by budget, you don’t have to spend a fortune on new outfits.

My clients can bring 4 outfit choices to their boudoir photoshoot.  Here are 3 outfit choices I suggest you bring.  In fact, even if you are not on a budget, still consider these 3 outfits as they will add variety to your shoot.  Many clients make the mistake of bringing all suspenders and stockings to their shoot. I love stockings and suspenders as much as the next person, but it is best to limit them to one outfit per shoot.  Sometimes a more natural look can be even sexier.

Boudoir Shoot outfit choice 1 – White Sheets

I am a sucker for white sheets.  Wrap yourself in some white sheets and look effortlessly gorgeous, while hiding any bits you aren’t 100% happy with.

No need to bring any sheets with you, I have that sorted. Talk about an inexpensive outfit choice 🙂

Boudoir Shoot outfit choice 2: Implied topless

Feeling daring? Go implied topless for one of your outfit choices.  This means that your hands/arms will be covering, so there is no nudity to make this x-rated.  Just bring some undies.

Also consider wearing stay-up stockings, boots or long socks – they go great with this look.

Boudoir Shoot outfit choice 3: Shirt and undies

I already spoke in my last post about how much I adore shirts and undies for your boudoir shoot.

If you missed my previous blog post with shirt ideas, you can read it here.  It also gives examples of different styles of shirts that work well for a boudoir shoot.

So there you go – 3 outfit choices that you don’t need to spend any money on and will look great!

Bridal boudoir photography Townsville – Shooting in April 2017

Wow, how fast did last year go? Not to mention the Christmas holidays! Well I feel wonderfully refreshed and ready to greet the year with open arms.

I have one new years resolution this year and that is to to focus more on Bridal Boudoir Photography.  Creating stunning images for brides to share with their partners on their wedding day is definitely a passion of mine.  So if you are a Brisbane, Gold Coast or Townsville bride look no further 🙂

For Townsville bride-to-bes, or any Townsville ladies looking for a boudoir photo shoot, I will be photographing at a modern hotel room on Saturday 1 April and Sunday 2 April.  Get in touch for more information and times.

This gorgeous lady recently had a bridal boudoir shoot done.  I am sure you will agree, she will make such a stunning bride! Her hair and makeup was done by the wonderful Erin White.  Erin has since relocated from Townsville to Melbourne if anyone is looking for an amazing hair and makeup artist –  I will definitely miss working with her!

Brisbane glamour photography of a beautiful inked girl

These images were taken at a hotel shoot weekend – where I book a hotel room and clients can use the hotel room, at no cost, for their Brisbane glamour photography shoot.  We were lucky enough to have both a huge balcony and beautiful natural light in the hotel room – two things I always look for when hiring a room to photograph in.

Here are just some of the beautiful images of Miss J that were taken recently.  Her tattoos are amazing, especially her Wonder Woman tattoo.

Thanks to Shannon of Shannon Jennings Makeup for the hair and makeup for these images.

Perfection is the disease of a nation

Julia Roberts wrote this on her Facebook recently and it caused quite a response:

“Perfection is a disease of a nation. We overlay our faces with tons of make-up. We get botox and even starve ourselves to become that perfect size. We try to fix something but you can’t fix what you can’t see. It’s the soul that needs the surgery. It’s time that we take a stand. How can you expect someone else to love you if you don’t love yourself? You have to be happy with yourself. It doesn’t matter what you look like on the outside, it’s whats on the inside that counts. Today, I want to put up a makeup-free photo. I know I have wrinkles on my skin but today I want you to see beyond that. I want to embrace the real me and I want you to embrace who you are, the way you are, and love yourself just the way you are.”

Julia Roberts

Some of Julia’s words came from a song written by Sia and sung by Beyoncé called ‘Pretty Hurts’.  It is a beautiful song about loving and accepting yourself.  I love this version of it by singer Louisa Wendorff.

Behind the scenes at a boudoir photo shoot

Well I’ve been meaning to do a behind the scenes video for two years now.  It has taken me a little while to get around to it.  To be honest I was dreading it – because I had to be in front of the camera for once. And us photographers don’t like to be on the other side of the camera.

Thanks to my videographer, Kathryn of Oh Lola Productions.  And to my model Jen, who is a hair and makeup artists for Nikki Brown Photography and kindly offered to model.

This is a my behind the scenes video – giving you an idea of what your boudoir shoot will be like at Nikki Brown Photography.
